  • Bi-National Health Week

Friday October 12: "Dance for your Health" Dinner/Dance 7:00pm-9:00pm at the West Berkeley Senior Center (1900 Sixth Street, Berkeley)

Tuesday October 16: Workshop "El mal de los nervios en la familia"

Wednesday October 17: Workshop "Los nervios de punta en los niņos de 0-12 aņos"

Thursday October 18: Workshop "Los nervios de punta entre los adolescentes"

*All workshops are in spanish from 7:00-8:00pm at the West Berkeley Senior Center

Sunday October 20: Activity Day beginning at 9am at the Cesar Chavez Park in the Berkeley Marina

 
BOCA in 2006:
 

· MARCH—SAFETY MEETING WITH PARENTS AT ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER (Focused on the concern parents had about safety in the Berkeley schools and Berkeley Neighborhoods. About 100 people were present at this meeting.)

· APRIL—FOLLOW- UP MEETING ABOUT SAFETY AT ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER (At this meeting parents had the opportunity to be parts of small committees: Organizing parents, Organizing in the schools, and a committee to work with the Berkeley Police Department. About 50 people were present at this meeting.)

 

· APRIL—NUTRITION INFORMATIONAL MEETING (At this meeting people learned about nutrition and also received information on how to enroll their children in health insurance.)

 

·JUNE—IMMIGRATION FORUM (At this forum people had the opportunity to speak and consult with lawyers who specialize in immigration. Over 450 people attended this forum. It was a wonderful event with a multi-cultural feel to it. There was a wonderful youth choir present.)

 

· JULY—COMMUNITY MEETING WITH MAYOR TOM BATES, BERKELEY PARKS AND RECREATIONS, AND BERKELEY POLICE DEPARTMENT (At this meeting community members had the opportunity to show their concerns about safety in the City of  Berkeley. City officials provided the community members with phone numbers and key names. About 100 people were present at this meeting.)

 

·AUGUST—NATIONAL NIGHT OUT PROGRAM AT MCGEE AVENUE BAPTIST CHURCH (At this event the McGee Avenue neighbors gathered for a night out together.)

 

· SEPTEMBER—SENIOR SAFETY FORUM (This forum was an oopportunity for our older Berkeley Residents to express their concerns about safety especially in the South Berkeley area.)

 

·CAMPAIGN FOR PROP 86/ VOTER REGISTRATION (We did phone banking and got a lot of people registered to vote.)
